    re: #4–

The typography standards in UNM’s Identity Guidelines show that for logo purposes, the typography used should be Sabon or Perpetual, both of which are serif fonts.

The example listed above shows both serif and sans serif typefaces, the directions state “mostly serif fonts,” and the UNM identity guidelines lack sans serif fonts altogether. So I’m confused as to which direction to go.

We are currently working with UNM Communications & Marketing to confirm that the logo stays within the same “theme” as UNM’s design standard. However, as a student group we are not solely bound by these conditions. They are just a starting point for designing our own.

Once a few final–or the final–designs have been chosen we will be sitting down with UNM’s Communications Director and confirming that they are comfortable with the direction we are going and if they have any final suggestions. This process should not be rigorous, but will help to make sure we are all on the same page with the identity of UNM and affiliated organizations.

In the mean time we will composing our own design with only loose guidelines (as listed above) in order to give the most freedom and end up with a GPSA logo that we are happy with as Graduate & Professional Student on campus.
